Best Selection is a reprint set, and that is the whole point of it. Its pucks do not add 97 new numbers to Battrio. Each one prints the number it had in its original chapter with BS appended: 01-001 BS, 02-006 BS, 04-st BS, and so on. A catalogue that numbers its rows has to know that before it ingests the set, or it will read 97 reprints as 97 new pucks.
Why it appears now. The maker’s own pack index publishes this set, and it sits between chapter 08 and chapter 09 there. The official top page called it in operation on 27 June 2009, which places it between the last Battrio Super chapter and the Battrio Zero changeover. This archive previously said that 26 sets covered the full Battrio run. With this set published, that sentence was falsifiable, and it has been corrected rather than defended.
What the rows rest on. The official set page, live today on the maker’s own host, lists all 97 pucks with their printed numbers, their Japanese names and their rarity tier. The tier split below reproduces that page exactly: 5 マスター, 14 ハイパー, 27 スーパー, 51 ノーマル. An archived capture of the same page from 2011 is recorded in this batch’s evidence.
English names. 96 of the 97 rows resolve against this archive’s own Japanese to English species map. 1 row does not, because the official page prints a spelling the map does not carry, and that row keeps its Japanese name alone rather than being matched by eye.
A Battrio pack is 40 mm across and 3.4 mm thick. Both figures are printed three times on the maker’s own dated press release of 11 April 2007, in the body text, in the specification table and in a photograph caption.
The maker’s official name for the object is pack, not puck. This archive files it under puck because that is what collectors search, and prints the official name here so both lead to the same catalogue.
Battrio opened in Japanese arcades in July 2007, mid-month. The press release states July 2007 as the planned operation start, and the official site told players in late June that the machine would run from mid-July. The line ended with the V05 chapter, which began operating from mid-May 2012, and cabinets were pulled from mid-June 2012.
