Ensky History & Collection Guide

Ensky and Amada

Ensky took the Pokémon sticker line over from its parent Amada Printing Co. in 2005 and ran it to 2014. The factory, the artists and the master Retsuden numbering all stayed put, and the only thing that changed was the mark on the wrapper. You can see the handover in the products rather than having to take it on trust. ADV Retsuden Part 9, from 2005, is the first pack in this catalogue to print under the Ensky banner, and its eight predecessors print under Amada. Packs of the same line made before 2005 read AMADA in red; from 2005 the green-foil enSky mark replaces it. Because the ADV and DP era runs straddle that year, the same printed number can turn up under either brand depending on which print year you are holding.

What the object physically is

Ensky stickers are peel-and-stick seals, sold in packs, in lottery hangers and on blister cards. A pack typically held four or five stickers, a mix of Normal, Mirror Holo and one Special, and the lottery hangers and blisters often promised a stamped foil or an oversized centrepiece instead. Unlike menko, these stickers had no flip game attached to them. What you did with them was trade duplicates, complete the numbered run, and stick the spares on things. That is also why sealed survivors are scarce: a sticker only stayed sealed because the child who pulled it decided it was too good to use.

How the numbering works

Each Retsuden line carries one master number that keeps climbing across its Parts, and a later Part does not begin again at 001. DP Retsuden is the clearest case: thirteen Parts published between 2006 and 2010, with the printed numbers running from the low hundreds into the eight hundreds by the later Parts. Part 5 prints 472 Palkia sitting between 471 Dialga and 473 Heatran, and Part 9 carries the Rotom formes at 843 through 845. Form variants get their own numbers rather than sharing one, so Giratina appears at separate numbers for its Altered and Origin formes, and Shaymin for Land and Sky. When you are matching a loose sticker, the printed number plus the artwork is the pair that places it, never the number alone.

The lines, in order

ADV Retsuden Part 9 and ADV DX Waza 4 open the Ensky years in 2005. The W Series, with whole-page art stickers, and Sticker Legends Jr, aimed at a younger audience, follow in 2006. DP Retsuden then runs thirteen Parts from 2006 to 2010, with the DP DX Waza foil line running alongside it in six Parts from 2007 to 2009 and DX Waza Best collecting the highlights in 2010. Zukan AR arrives in five Parts across 2012 and 2013, and the Battle Trozei tie-ins close the line in three Parts in 2014. Factory uncut sheets exist across both the Amada and the Ensky catalogue and have their own page. Waza (技) means a move or a technique, so a DX Waza sticker shows a Pokémon using one of its moves, printed on foil stock.

How to identify what you are holding

  • Look at the brand mark before the number. AMADA in red means the pack was printed before 2005. The green-foil enSky mark means 2005 or later. This is the only test that separates two otherwise identical packs of the same line.
  • Match the printed number together with the artwork, not the number by itself. Retsuden numbering continues across Parts, so a number in the eight hundreds is an ordinary DP Retsuden number rather than evidence of anything unusual, and a later Part does not restart at 001.
  • Check whether the sticker is a form variant before you call a row a duplicate. Giratina, Shaymin, Rotom, Burmy, Wormadam and Gastrodon each occupy more than one number in the DP Retsuden run, one per form.
  • Use the finish as part of the identity, not as a footnote. A Normal, a Mirror Holo and a Special of the same Pokémon are different entries, and the DX Waza lines are foil throughout.

How much is here, and what else Ensky made

Thirty three sticker entries, each with its own per-sticker list. Ensky's Pokémon output was not only stickers, and the format index covers the rest of what this archive holds: 3D lenticular releases, bromide cards and magnets. Ensky is still an active company today. What is catalogued here is the numbered sticker line it ran from 2005 to 2014, and this archive does not track its current product range.

What Ensky Continued from Amada

Correction, 2026-09-13. In 2005 Amada handed the Pokémon sticker line to its subsidiary Ensky. The format barely changed, with the same Retsuden numbering and the same pack rhythm, and Ensky ran it from 2005 to 2014: the ADV and DP Retsuden years, the DX Waza foil line, Zukan AR and the Battle Trozei tie-ins. The earlier wording here named a Black and White era and an XY era, and no set of either name is among the 33 on this page.

The Collecting Loop

What the Stickers Were For

Unlike menko, the stickers had no formal flip game. The “rules” were trading, completing the numbered run, and personal decoration.

  • Each Retsuden line had a master number running across several Parts; the goal was a complete album.
  • Duplicates were the trading currency — swap a spare Common at school for a Holo someone else had two of.
  • Mirror Holos and limited foils were the chase pulls, usually one per pack.
  • Stickers were meant to be peeled and stuck. Sealed survivors mostly survived because the kid who pulled them decided they were too good to use.
Pack Mechanics

What Was in a Pack

  • Ensky packs typically held 4–5 stickers — a mix of Normal, Mirror Holo, and a Special.
  • Lottery hangers and blisters often promised a stamped foil or oversized centerpiece.
  • The Retsuden numbering continued across Parts; later Parts did not reset back to 001.
  • The wrapper carried the green-foil Ensky logo from 2005 onward; earlier packs of the same line carry the AMADA mark instead.
Brand Handover

From Amada to Ensky

Amada Printing Co. spun off the Pokémon line to its subsidiary Ensky in 2005. The factory, the artists, and the master numbering stayed the same; only the logo on the wrapper changed.

  • Pre-2005 packs of the same series read AMADA in red.
  • From 2005 onward the green-foil enSky mark replaced it.
  • ADV-era and DP-era Retsuden runs straddle the handover — the same number can appear under either brand depending on print year.

Reading the Ensky Catalog

Choose a topic for a quick answer.

What are Ensky stickers?

Ensky continued the Japanese Pokémon sticker line after Amada. This catalog covers releases from 2005 to 2014.

Which series are here?

Browse ADV, DP Retsuden, DX Waza, W Series, Sticker Legends Jr, Zukan AR and Battle Trozei. Each set page has its own checklist.

How do I use the printed number?

Match the number and artwork to the set checklist. Some series continue numbering across Parts, so a later Part may not begin at 001.

Ensky Sticker Questions

Choose a topic for a quick answer.

What are Ensky Pokémon stickers?

Peel-and-stick Japanese Pokémon seals, sold in packs and on lottery hangers between 2005 and 2014. They continue the numbered Retsuden line Amada started in 1996, under Ensky's own brand mark. Browse by series and Part to match a loose sticker to its list.

When did Ensky take over from Amada?

In 2005. ADV Retsuden Part 9 and ADV DX Waza 4 are the first sets in this catalogue to print under the Ensky mark, and the eight ADV Parts before them print under Amada. The factory, the artists and the master numbering carried straight over, so the practical test is the wrapper: AMADA in red before the change, a green-foil enSky mark after it.

What does DX Waza mean?

Waza (技) means a move or a technique. DX Waza stickers show Pokémon using their moves, printed on foil stock. The line runs as ADV DX Waza, six DP DX Waza Parts from 2007 to 2009, and DX Waza Best in 2010.

What is an Ensky Pokémon bromide?

Bromide (ブロマイド) is the Japanese trade word for a glossy photographic print sold as a keepsake, and Ensky printed Pokémon ones. They are catalogued separately from the stickers because they are a different object, and they have their own page under the Ensky format index.

Do the Retsuden numbers restart each Part?

No. The master number keeps climbing across Parts. DP Retsuden Part 5 prints 472 Palkia between 471 Dialga and 473 Heatran, and by Part 9 the numbers are in the eight hundreds. Use the printed number together with the artwork to find the right list, never the number alone.

What are Zukan AR and Battle Trozei stickers?

Two of the later Ensky lines. Zukan AR runs five Parts across 2012 and 2013 and ties into an augmented-reality Pokédex feature. Battle Trozei runs three Parts in 2014 and ties into the puzzle game of that name. Trozei is the last sticker line in this catalogue.

Are Ensky stickers the same as Ensky Pokémon cards?

Mostly no. Ensky's Pokémon stickers are seals on a backing liner. Ensky also printed card-shaped products, including bromides and 3D lenticular pieces, and those are catalogued separately by format. If what you are holding has no liner and no adhesive, it is not from the sticker line.

Is Ensky still making Pokémon products?

Ensky is still an active company. The numbered sticker line documented here ran from 2005 to 2014, and this archive does not track Ensky's current range, so nothing on these pages should be read as a statement about what is in shops now.
